Assalamu Alaykum Dear Friends,

When we started this magazine back in January, we had a vision. It was that we weren’t alone.

We knew in our hearts that there were countless others out there with a yearning for progressive media that reflected the diversity of Muslim Americans and our connections with other communities.

We committed all our time and money to seeing this vision through.

Now, almost a year later, you have made us into the most popular Muslim American magazine on the Internet. In fact, in just ten short months, our web ranking (according to Alexa.com) now surpasses that of every national Muslim organization, including ones that have been around for years like ISNA, MPAC, and CAIR.

MWU! is now read by thousands of Muslims and non-Muslims each month, and our articles have appeared in places like the Christian Science Monitor, Alternet, and Common Dreams. Even the editors of the Jerusalem Post saw fit to write a whole article attacking us (we consider that a small honor).

Many of our readers have written to tell us how much they look forward to reading MWU! Our articles have stimulated thought, laughter, and sometimes, even outrage among some of you. One thing you’ve never told us is that we’re boring.

We have ambitious plans. We want to be able to expand our political, cultural and spiritual coverage, offer you more thought-provoking material, and bring Muslim WakeUp! to your community through exciting events and activities.

But we simply can’t do all of this without your financial help.
