Send the Government of Pakistan a WakeUp! Call Now!
By Jawad Ali
The government of Pakistan is starting to bulldoze the homes of the Yargul Khel tribe in an attempt to uncover Al Qaida fugitives, reports the Christian Science Monitor today. This is an outrage.
Collective punishment is a crime against humanity, and home demolition is a crime straight out of the Israeli playbook. Israeli “security experts” have started to land in large numbers in Iraq, at the invitation of Ahmed Chalabi, their beloved sponsor. The results are immediate and obvious. Collective punishment and home demolitions came to the “liberated” people without delay.
Now Pakistan has joined the party. It makes little difference whether this plot was hatched by the Pakistan government all by themselves, or whether they were lead to it by a little coercion from the other home demolishers.
"If few people of the tribe have committed any crime or sin then why there is destruction to the whole tribe? This is no justice. I have never supported Al Qaeda.... My only crime is to be a member of the Yargul Khel," says enraged shopkeeper Mohammad Tahir while packing garments and imported crockery.
Mr. Tahir, we are enraged too.

UPDATE:
There is indeed a Ministry of Law, Justice, and Human Rights in Pakistan. Their contact page does not list e-mail addresses, but they do give out the phone numbers of everyone. If you have extra minutes left on your calling card, please pick up the phone and call them, and tell us what they said. Be sure to ask them if collective punishment and home demolitions are violations of human rights, and if so what has their ministry done about them. Remember, that 10PM on the American West coast in 10AM in Pakistan (roughly).
