Ever my father’s daughter I never fasted a day in my life.
Live simply was his motto and he practiced it all year long.
But he was no saint. And he never aspired to be.
Religion totally bored him. Get real. He was a pragmatic man.
He just wanted to have a beer with his Ramadan lunch.
No statement there, just wanted a cold beer on a hot summer day.
Ever my father’s daughter I prefer the year long approach.
Just want my damn caffeine in the morning and no not -----------
Discipline!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a break! As if we need more of that!
Worked hard all his life and thought that was discipline enough.
He just wanted some relief, a cold beer so he could carry on, day
in and day out.
Now why would that infuriate the almighty he asked in weary
disbelief.
Never drove a Mercedes in his life.
The "relentless status competition" bored him to no end.
Mercedes driving, status-seeking, cool dude upscale fasting bored him
Childish he muttered wearily and sipped his beer.
Just a regular guy who wanted his Ramadan beer!
Drove a reliable Volvo all his life and Scripture bored him.
He took the do unto others approach, never understood what the fuss
was all about.
fuss was all about.
Ever my father’s daughter I drive a Jetta!
What would Muhammad drive? Maybe I’ll just take the Jesus
approach!
To my fasting lady friends sweating it out in the burbs I say
Driving those Gas Guzzling monsters isn’t my idea of ascetic discipline
And I’m no saint. Stop driving them for a month. Try that for a change.
The species is filling them with its blood.
I am on thin ice with this insatiable greed and mindless consumption.
Those sparkly stones worn sicken me
Somehow they don’t look so good anymore after iftar
They sparkle with the blood of human misery
Just be a regular gal
Isn’t it all about humility and the divine?
Or is humility too revolutionary for the fasting up-scaling souls?
Now that’s a thought for Ramadan.
